America’s Cover-ups, have they gone too far. Back in 2012 there had been substantial evidence of countless sexual abuse that took place among a well-known organization called Boy Scouts of America. The biggest question is why were these incidents covered up?  From my understanding, these sexual predators were set free, because the reputation of Boy Scouts of America would be stained forever. But yet these poor innocent victims had to agonize in silence, because it was more important to cover up than to reveal such scandalous sexual violence.
Boy Scouts of America aka (BSA) has been around since the early 1900’s. It has been an organization that people looked up to and respected. But apparently, these acts of sexual violence that were made on these innocent victims just weren’t important enough to punish these leaders that were in charge of these innocent little boys. So instead of properly placing these predators in a proper housing community called “jail” the BCA decides that the reputation of this huge organization would be better off to just place all of these issues under the rug.

I can’t believe that even though we are living in the twenty-first century, these disgusting crimes are still being committed. These kids that had suffered through these ordeals will never truly recover and be normal. Because of all of this, I believe the Boys Scouts of America has let our nation down. It is time to strip away and reveal who these high powered individuals were that committed these sexual crimes within their organization. These criminals need to be replaced and than placed in “Jail" where they need to be for a very long time.

We as a nation should be making sure that powerful organizations like the Boy Scouts of America should be teaching and protecting our children from harm. Let us be strong as a nation and stand up to these sexual predators. Our Children are worth Saving

  1. I completely agree with your sentiment that cover-ups for the sake of protecting the powerful should be brought to light and we should stand up and fight for those who can't fight for themselves. However, I do have one point of contention with part of this post, and it is something that I hear very often when topics of abuse come up. An abused person, be it a child or adult, is not abnormal. To assume that all child abuse victims can never recover and be normal is labeling them into a category as if they are damaged goods, which is adding insult to injury. Any victim needs our understanding and help finding resources for which they can cope, not become "normal."

  2. Sabrina, I do agree with you, I never intentionally meant to label any victims as being abnormal; that was a poor choose of words on my part. What I meant to say is that these victims who had to endure such hideous crimes may need to undergo much therapy or be given much time to heal; but certainly with that being said, they can indeed lead normal and successful lives. These children should have never had to encounter such horrific acts and what angers me the most is that these innocent children had to cry in silence without anyone being reprimanded for what they did to them.
